From the HHV newsletter recently...
Some of you may have spotted a new memorial bench in memory of Andy Cawdell. Andy served as the chair of the Herne Hill Velodrome Trust from 2012 to 2020, during which time he was instrumental in securing the long-term future of the historic track. He played a key role in negotiations with the landowners, The Dulwich Estate, to secure a new lease for the velodrome and also oversaw a major renovation project, which saw the track resurfaced and the new pavilion built. Under his leadership, the Trust also developed new partnerships and initiatives to increase community engagement and promote cycling at the venue. He was a stalwart of cycling in London, a founding member of the London Cycling Campaign, for some years an LCC Trustee and was Co-ordinator of Southwark Cyclists from 2013 to 2019.

Melita and I visited the Herne Hill Velodrome yesterday, the first anniversary of his passing, to leave a tribute on the bench. Thank you to the HHVT for installing the bench and commemorative plaque.
